RUDOLPH SHAW, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mr. Shaw began his professional career in radio dramas in Guyana and on stage at the Theatre Guild of Guyana.

A graduate of the Negro Ensemble Company’s Scholarship program and the Theatre program at Queens College, he also has MA degrees from John Jay College and the NYU Educational Theatre program.

He is an AUDELCO award winner, a recipient of the Field Foundation’s Emerging Artist Award, and a published writer.

He made his Off-Broadway debut in Agatha Christie’s Spider’s Web. His other Off-Broadway and Regional Theatre roles include Captain of Sberri in Volpone, Old Mack in Moon On A Rainbow Shawl, Jerry in The Zoo Story, Mr. “M” in Fugard’s My Children! My Africa! Jean Claude in Haiti’s Children of God and as an Apostle and dance captain in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Theatre at the New York City’s Madison Avenue Baptist Church.

He is perhaps best known for his “Lite Beer from Miller” commercial with the late Bubba Smith and Dick Butkus, and as a Rifts gang member in the cult-classic movie Warriors. He has performed on the soap operas As the World Turns, Edge of Night and All My Children. He has also performed on the primetime drama Law and Order.

He developed a love for South Africa after working there for the United Nations and visited the Market Theater where Sizwe Bansi is Dead was created. He also toured Japan as a good-will ambassador with the UN Singers.
